Which grades have openings for the 2013-2014 school year?
The Town School admits most of its new students into Kindergarten. However, we often have openings in other grades from Nursery 3 to Eighth grade. For further information please contact the Admissions Office at (212) 288-6395. Alternatively, you may wish to inquire and apply online. Wait List grades will be posted in the blue information box at the right of the Apply Online page.
Please note: Only completed Wait List applications will be reviewed. If you are interested in pursuing a Wait List application, you should schedule the requested ERB testing and submit a transcript request to your sending school.
How old must my child be to apply for Nursery 3?
The birth date cut-off for the Nursery 3 class for the 2013-2014 school year is August 31, 2010. Your child must be three years old by September 1, 2013.
How old must my child be to apply for Kindergarten?
The birth date cut-off for Kindergarten for the 2013-2014 school year is August 31, 2008. Your child must be five years old by September 1, 2013.
Do I need to call the day after Labor Day in order to receive an application to The Town School?
You do not need to call the day after Labor Day to receive an application, and we do not limit the number of applications that we mail out. If you try calling on September 4th and you do not get through to the Admissions Office, you may utilize the inquiry and application forms that we have posted on our website. Please note that if you do call on September 4th and leave a message it may take more than 24 hours for the Admissions Office to get back to you. We sincerely appreciate your interest in The Town School, and we will make every effort to get back to you as soon as possible.
What is your application deadline?
We are extending our application deadline to December 1, 2012 due to the effects of Hurricane Sandy. Interviews are scheduled in the order that applications are received. Once the Admissions calendar is fully scheduled, applicants requesting an appointment will be placed on a Wait List.
Applications for all other grades are accepted on a rolling basis.
What appointments are required to complete my application to The Town School?
There are three appointments required to complete your application to The Town School: a school tour, a parent interview, and a child visit.
After I have submitted my application will you contact me to schedule my appointments?
Families who have applied for Kindergarten or other open grades should contact the Admissions Office to schedule their appointments.
Our tours are Monday to Friday from 8:45 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Parent interviews are scheduled periodically throughout the day in half hour increments, and child playgroups are offered in the afternoon on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, as well as on two Saturdays in the Fall.

Do you ask for letters of recommendation?
No. The Town School does not require letters of recommendation.
Is there an after school program at The Town School?
Yes. Clubhouse is our extended day program that we offer Monday to Thursday until 6:00 p.m., and on Fridays until 4:00 p.m. There are also a variety of classes and music lessons offered after school which families may sign up for on a trimester basis.
Do you offer spring tours?
We may offer spring tours, but we encourage you to get in touch with us in September to schedule a tour of the school.
When do you notify families regarding Admissions decisions?
Notification dates vary by grade during the month of February. Please refer to our Notification Dates page or the ISAAGNY website for specific notification dates for the 2013-2014 school year.
Where do Town School graduates go after they graduate?
