Our community and neighborhood.
As a Nursery - 8th grade school of about 360 students, our strong, connected community is the foundation for our students' growing independence. Parents, grandparents, and caregivers are active and valued participants in the life of the school.
Town is located at the end of a cul-de-sac, across the street from a public park, with great views of the East River from our play roof and many classrooms. Our direct neighborhood is Manhattan's Upper East Side, home to many top hospitals and research institutions, and we are a community of families from all over NYC and all over the world. Our students travel to school from over 50 zip codes, including all five boroughs and New Jersey. Our neighborhood is comprised of residential streets, several major hospitals, art and cultural institutions, parks, NYC Public Library branches, diverse houses of worship, and recreational centers.
Getting to school.
Town is close to several modes of public transportation, including the Q and 6 lines of the subway, and the M79 and M72 buses. Most Town students are eligible for, based on age and home address, free NYC public school bus service and/or free or reduced-fare MetroCards for subways and public buses. Town also offers free buses from centralized pick-up points on the East and West Sides of Manhattan, with additional routes in Brooklyn and Downtown Manhattan coming soon. Students and teachers also travel to school by foot, bicycle, car or taxi, and scooters!

Come visit! We'll work with your schedule.
Most independent schools in NYC adhere to an admissions season, but we know life doesn't happen on a set schedule when you are relocating, and we are always happy to work with your family. We are glad to partner with educational consultants or relocation specialists to help facilitate your visit.
