Applying to Town: All-Virtual Process Through Fall 2021

Creating new ways to connect.

Virtual Admissions: a design thinking challenge.

We have been excited to reimagine our Admissions process in a virtual space over the past year, finding new ways to introduce you to Town while prioritizing your family's and our community's health.

Our Admissions events and appointments will remain virtual during the fall of 2021, to support health and safety for unvaccinated young applicants and students at Town, and we anticipate offering in-person parent tours early in 2022 (we will post details on our Calendar and Events page by November 2021).

We consider you our partners in our personal, equitable, and flexible Admissions process and welcome questions and feedback. We always encourage you to: Talk to us! Ask us questions! Contact us any time at admissions@townschool.org.

Applying to Town.

We are accepting applications on a rolling basis for 2021-22, and our application for 2022-23 will be live on August 23, 2021. After completing your initial application form, you will be able to use your parent portal to complete all the steps for your child's application.

Throughout the Admissions season, we will offer different ways to help you "try on Town" as you consider your child's next steps as a learner and community member. We invite you to connect with our community online, and through interactive special events with parent, student, and alumni/ae ambassadors.

Parent Conversation

Parent conversation.

Once you complete your initial application form, you will receive an email with instructions to schedule a parent meeting with a member of our Admissions team, at a time that is convenient for you.

If you met with Admissions Director Debbie Ashe this spring or summer for a parent conversation, we consider this portion of your application process complete! You are welcome to schedule a follow-up check-in at any time.

Getting to Know Your Child: Virtual Meeting, Teacher Recommendations, and Your Reflections

Getting to know your child through multiple lenses.

We can’t wait to meet your child! Our expert faculty have designed a developmentally appropriate, brief virtual meeting structure to help your child interact successfully with us in a virtual setting. For younger children, this will be a brief Zoom call that is play/conversation-based. For older grades, teachers will administer specific assessments such as math and reading/writing as well as engage in conversation with the child.

We will also work to know your child through multiple lenses including examples of their latest artwork, stories, or building projects and insights from the people who know them best: their teachers and parents.

Optional Parent Tours

We anticipate offering in-person tours beginning in January 2022 and will post details on our Calendar and Events page by November 2021. Our tours will be in small groups at a variety of times to support health and safety and best serve your needs as a family.
